35 Shots in the Vegas Rain 🔗

Bad weather makes great photos.

It rained today (and tonight) in Las Vegas, and that drove me directly outside to the glistening Las Vegas Strip. A bit of precipitation can really open up photographic possibilities, as the raindrops amplify, capture, and bend light. As I walked down the Strip, I felt like a kid in a candy store, seeing all kinds of photographs that simply weren't there the past several dry nights.

35 shots from tonight are included below. All were shot handheld with the Nikon D3 (ISO ranging from about 400 to 2000), using natural light, with my 105mm fixed macro VR lens. Most were manual focus.

Las Vegas is such a joy to photograph -- so much color, so many interesting characters.
